ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Carol Green is an author, speaker, blogger, and coach. She has published seven (7) books, contributed to three (3) collaborative works, and created three (3) running journals. Her novel finally came out of a box in a corner on flash drives. She encourages women, especially grandmothers, to gain greater fitness by providing tips and inspiration to insure long years of joyful grand-parenting. She blogs as Running Granny Green. She explains …

I began running at the tender age of 47, just prior to becoming a grandmother. I have always been involved in fitness programs of some kind or another, but running changed a lot of things.

Running broadened my horizons. I gained friends whom I would not have come to know without running. I refer to them as my running buddies. I began participating in fitness challenges and endurance activities from 5K's to sprint triathlons and half marathons. My favorite endurance challenge is a relay race where I share 180 miles of exhausting smelly misery with 11 of my running buddies.

Running improved my health. My blood pressure reading lowered. My endurance improved making other physical activities more enjoyable. My knees and ankles became stronger. (Yes, they did!)

Running improved my writing. I share things I have learned in effort to teach others. I have discovered so much value in running that I want to encourage others to lace up and run.

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. I want to be able to enjoy those relationships for many years to come. Running is helping me accomplish that goal.

Note: In the effort to impart wisdom, Carol believes that most often less is more. Provide the information in a succinct fashion and allow the reader or student to ponder it. They will then determine if it is to become a part of them, or if it is something to discard. Either way, you have done your part without boring them!
